The abstract submission deadline has passed.
Please check back in January 2008 for the Call for Abstracts for the 2008 ASDS Annual Meeting.
All abstracts must be submitted and presented electronically — no slide presentations will be accepted
- All accepted abstract presenters must be a paid registered attendee of the ASDS Annual Meeting in Chicago
- In order to include as many unique presenters as possible, we are limiting the number of abstract submissions to three (3)
- Please do not include industry names in your abstract title or content. Generic terms should be should be used instead of trade names. Any trade names will be changed to their generic name
- The primary author/presenter of the abstract must be a physician
- All abstract sections must be completed for consideration. The abstracts should be as informative as possible.
- All abstract submitters will be required to disclose any and all commercial conflicts of interest. All presenters will be required to use a “first-slide,” provided by ASDS to disclose significant conflicts of interest with manufacturer(s) or any commercial product and/or provider of commercial services in their presentations
- Abstracts may be used in ASDS publications when publicizing the meeting Due to the size and time demands of the ASDS Annual Meeting, it is not possible to guarantee time for all abstracts. Priority will be given to work which is original and has not been presented or submitted elsewhere. Final disposition of your abstract, should it be accepted, is at the discretion of the ASDS Annual Meeting Work Group
At the ASDS Annual Meeting, there will be an opportunity for presenting abstracts via posters in addition to the usual symposium format. Furthermore, the judging panel may, on a case-by-case basis, recommend to authors of abstracts that their papers be developed into posters instead of symposium presentations.
Posters should be prepared in advance and should be brought in person by the presenter. Do not mail your poster. Each poster display will be 8’ wide x 4’ high mounted horizontally.
Suggestions for the preparation and presentation of your poster are provided below. The first author of each poster is responsible for the proper assembly, mounting and presentation of his/her poster.
At the top of each poster should include a label stating the title, authors and the authors’ affiliations as they appeared on the abstract. Commercial logos and advertising material are not allowed. Industry names should not be included in the title. Generic names should be used instead of trademark names. Please disclose any potential commercial conflicts of interest with your research. The lettering of this title strip should be at least 1” high. All poster material should be confined to the space provided. Text and illustrations must be readable from a distance of at least 5 feet. All lines should be heavily drawn. Typed materials should be on the largest typeface available.
In planning you poster presentation, remember that the poster will be available for viewing and discussion for several hours. The poster should be understandable without oral explanation. When planning your poster presentation, aim for clarity and simplicity. Make an initial rough layout (see diagram below), keeping in mind the proportions of figures, table and text. In order to maintain a good visual balance, poster content should occupy approximately 50% of the total 8’ x 4’ poster board area. An effective poster should be clear and concise. The objective of the work should be stated. Experimental details should be concise. Tables and conclusions should be clearly stated. Do not overload the poster with excessive text and data. Where possible, organize tables and figures chronologically in vertical progression.
