International Dermatologic Surgery Fellowship Recognition Program

Application deadline: May 1, 2018.

The American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS) is recognized as a leader in the advancement of educational excellence in dermatologic surgery. The principal objective of this program is to educate international dermatologists in dermatologic surgery procedures.

The program will utilize ASDS resources, the abilities of ASDS dermatologic surgeons and the willingness of those surgeons to give their time as well as the capabilities and energies of our ITMP members to assist international physicians in developing and implementing dermatologic surgery fellowships. Specifically, we wish to provide them with guidance and credentials, both of which will be instrumental in paving the way to approach their countries' medical regulators in order to be given appropriate recognition and documents to start and maintain a training program.

Each fellowship program must provide a minimum number of procedures to receive a certificate from ASDS. There are three certificate options available for each program. Each certificate option has a minimum number of cases based on but not directly reflective of similar fellowships from around the world.

  • General Dermatologic Surgery Certificate
  • Mohs Surgery Certificate
  • Cosmetic Dermatology Certificate

Fellowship Directors seeking program recognition must complete the Fellowship Application Form, include all required documentation and fees, and submit to ASDS by the application deadline. A limited number of application fees can be offset by a $1,000 grant from the Lawrence M. Field, MD, International Dermatologic Surgery Educational Exchange Fund. Please contact Hana Herron at hherron@asds.net or +1-847-956-9139 for application documents and any additional information.
