Introducing a New Standardized Curriculum for Residents

ASDS/A Immediate Past President Vince Bertucci, MD, FRCPC, invites you to prepare for your ABD exams with the new ASDS Resident Cosmetic and Surgical Derm Essentials online series.

Through this program, we will ensure all residents in all programs are receiving standardized education that prepares them to be the experts in dermatologic surgery.

The curriculum will feature live lectures on the third Tuesday of the month, beginning this August, with 10 webinars each calendar year through 2026. All lectures will be recorded for on-demand access.

“The ASDS Resident Cosmetic and Surgical Derm Essentials webinars have been an excellent educational resource in residency. The lecture series provides practical knowledge that I can immediately apply in my clinical training. It has also been useful in preparing for board exams. I highly recommend this series for all trainees!”

PGY3 Dermatology Resident at The University of Chicago

Resident Cosmetic and Surgical Derm Essentials will help residents prepare for the board exam by creating 30 in-depth procedural lectures covering the breadth of dermatologic surgery. The curriculum is driven by members of the Surgical Directors Forum, who will select faculty experts in each content area. A task force was created to suggest faculty for selection and review each lecture's material.

The engaging program content will be presented by renowned dermatologic surgeons who share their valuable knowledge and insights during a one-hour, in-depth presentation. Each webinar will conclude with a live Q&A and be recorded for on-demand viewing following the live event.

The Surgical Directors Curriculum Task Force intends for this series to support residents’ educational and training needs so that they feel more confident in their procedural knowledge as they approach the board examination and make career decisions.
