ASDS awards eight clinical research grants

ROLLING MEADOWS, Ill., OCTOBER 6, 2017 – The American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS), the largest specialty organization representing dermatologic surgeons, has awarded a total of $96,669 to eight new research projects. The Cutting Edge Research Grant program was introduced in 1999 with the goal of uniting education and innovation to encourage clinical research and the transfer of new technologies into the surgical practice setting.   Today, it also supports Board-directed research that tackle advocacy and practice management topics, in addition to translational research projects.

The research projects will focus on topics including microneedling for surgical scars, medical spa perception, patient preferences for skin cancer treatment and the impact of drug compounding regulations.

“The Cutting Edge Research Grant program enables ASDS members to pursue various subjects within the dermatologic surgery specialty and further position themselves as the true skin experts,” said ASDS President Lisa Donofrio, MD. “Year after year, the research conducted through these grants helps produce findings that will make an impact.”
