ASDS/A President M. Laurin Council, MD, MBA , shares how you can help support our specialty.

Every day, ASDS members are expanding the boundaries of what’s possible – through new innovations; safer and more effective procedures; and programs developed to improve patient care. One driving force behind these advances: ASDS members who make more possible today through contributions to the Dermasurgery Advancement Fund (DSAF).

About the Dermasurgery Advancement Fund

The ASDS Dermasurgery Advancement Fund (DSAF) provides financial support for research and other activities focusing on the advancement of dermatologic surgery including public awareness and patient education. DSAF contributors support the ultimate investment in the specialty's future.

Reasons to Give

Pay It Forward – Lend a helping hand to the future of the organization. Donations provide residents with advance training opportunities through ASDS courses, preceptorship programs, various education resources and much more.

Remember Someone Special – Celebrate a colleague, family member or friend’s life, achievements or milestones – or just say “thank you” – with a Tribute Donation that helps DSAF carry out its mission.

Support Research – Innovation is core to the heart of ASDS membership. Supporting research towards immediate issues facing clinical practice and continuing our pioneering spirit drives the specialty forward.

Public Education – Increasing public awareness about the scope of practice of dermatologic surgeons and their expertise in skin health and beauty is vital in today’s world where almost anyone can claim to be an expert. Educating consumers on patient safety and the importance of choosing a board certified dermatologists enhances our reputation and drives consumers to an ASDS members office.

Legacy Circle

The ASDS Legacy Circle is a planned giving program that allows dedicated members to bequeath a portion of their estate as a charitable contribution to ASDS. A part of a member’s own personal legacy will live on and continue to shape the future of the specialty. This program ensures a consistent, long-term source of funding for the Society, and the return outweighs the costs required to develop, launch and maintain the program.

Members will be able to direct their donations to various initiatives. Participants will realize a significant tax benefit since there is currently no upper limit on the estate tax deduction for charitable bequests. Since the bequest does not interfere with current finances, they will remain in complete control of their assets during their lifetime and can modify their gift as circumstances change.
