Members currently serving in the armed forces will receive a 40% discount on their annual membership fee

SCHAUMBURG, Ill., MAY 30, 2024 – The American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS) Board of Directors is pleased to announce a new reduced membership fee for active duty military dermatologists, effective immediately.

On March 7, the Board unanimously approved a 40% discounted membership fee. This change will allow ASDS to welcome the audience of dermatologists actively serving in the military, which the Association of Military Dermatologists (AMD) estimates at approximately 125.

“Our Membership Work Group presented compelling research in support of a new reduced rate for active duty military dermatologists, and the Board was enthused to approve the proposal,” said ASDS/A President Seth L. Matarasso, MD. “ASDS appreciates and values military dermatologists’ unique experiences. We welcome and wholeheartedly encourage them to join ASDS and benefit from the exchange of education, research and networking with colleagues all around the world.”

“The Association of Military Dermatologists (AMD) is thrilled that ASDS is offering active military dermatologists access to top-tier dermatologic surgery education and networking by joining their organization at a 40% discount. The substantial discount will allow active military dermatologists to further their professional reach with experts in the field,” said AMD.

ASDS is a non-profit membership organization for more than 6,400 board certified dermatologic surgeons. For over 50 years, the Society’s mission has been to promote excellence in patient care through patient education, research and continuing education for dermatologic surgeons. All U.S.-based ASDS members also receive membership in its advocacy arm, the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery Association (ASDSA). The Association is dedicated to education and advocacy for dermatologic surgeons and their patients, providing resources and information on issues such as patient safety and fair reimbursement.

Prospective active military members are encouraged to complete an application at asds.net/Join and indicate their active military status on the application to receive the discount. Previous ASDS members can simply reinstate their membership by logging into asds.net/My-Profile with their ASDS ID, and the discount should be applied. Please contact ASDS membership at 847-956-0900 or membership@asds.net for any assistance in joining or rejoining the Society.
