Nearly 2,100 dermatologists, medical personal and industry professionals are expected to gather at the 2018 ASDS Annual Meeting to learn the latest innovations, advances and best practices in the dermatologic surgery field. Mark Kelly, a much decorated retired NASA space mission commander and United States Navy Captain, will provide the opening keynote lecture on Thursday, Oct. 11, sharing his moving journey that inspires new perspective on effective leadership, teamwork and commitment to overcome formidable challenges. Mark’s riveting presentation will close with an appearance by his wife, former state legislator and Congresswoman Gabby Giffords, who survived an assassination attempt in 2011.
Jean D. Carruthers, MD, and Alastair Carruthers, FRCPC, were selected for the Annual Lawrence M. Field, MD, Honorary Lecture on Saturday, Oct. 13. Drs. Jean and Alastair Carruthers have remained on the forefront of research and teaching for injectables and cosmetic rejuvenating therapies and procedures. Similar to Dr. Field, the Carruthers’ have spread a cloak of educational excellence across the globe in order to further the specialty and benefit patients. They will recount their journey, and the importance of peer education and giving back.
